5 Reasons to Consider Aluminium
Aluminium is an extremely versatile product which used in a wide variety of applications around the world. Here are five facts about aluminium which suggest why it is the most widely used non-ferrous metal.
Why You Should Consider Aluminium for Your Next Project

1. It is Abundant
Aluminium is one of the most abundant metallic elements in the earth’s crust and because it is so readily available it typically costs less than other metals.
2. It is Lightweight
Aluminium weighs about a third of the weight of steel but despite this is a strong and tough material that is also easily formed. This makes it often the metal of choice in manufacturing as it easier to transport and handle in a factory or on a building site.
3. It is Recyclable
Aluminium is very recyclable material and one of the most repeatedly recycled materials today. An aluminium product can be recycled 100% back into itself without losing quality or integrity.
4. It is Corrosion Resistant
Much like stainless steel, aluminium is known for its corrosion resistant properties. Aluminium is resistant to corrosion due to the formation of a thin oxide layer (aluminium oxide or Al2O3). This prevents further corrosion by creating a strong protective layer over the surface of the metal. Aluminium is often anodised or powder coated for further protection, aesthetic properties and corrosion resistance.
5. It is Ductile
Aluminium is easily formed due to its ductility. It has a much lower melting point than most other metals and can be moulded into various shapes making it very versatile. This is of particular advantage in forming custom designed aluminium sections due to the relatively low cost of designing & developing custom dies through which aluminium is extruded. These dies can be used repeatedly and modified if necessary when ordering material for further processing.
