Aluminum Plate

Aluminum Plate has a high strength to mass ratio some aluminum engineering alloys have similar strength to structural steels.

Aluminum plates are available in a wide variety of alloys the most common being 1200, 5083,  5251 and 6082.

To choose the right alloy for your application refer to the aluminum technical data on this website or contact us. Aluminum is non corrosive and is extremely ductile. Plates can be used for a wide range of applications from boat building to mine cage housings. Aluminum is non-magnetic, non-sparking and non-combustible, these traits makes it useful and unique for Marine  Mining and Advanced Electronic Industries. Common widths are 1000mm, 1250mm and 1500mm. Common lengths are 2000mm,2500 mm, 3000mm and 6000mm respectively. Thickness vary from 3mm – 100mmm, anything thinner that 3mm is deemed as sheeting. Euro Steel offers a full cut to size service for tooling plate ranging from 10mm to 75mm thick.  Click on below link to view most commonly available thicknesses and full details on weights and sizes.

  • ‘The fierce urgency of now’
What can government do to improve the outlook for growth and job creation in light of some serious external and domestic economic headwinds? Standard Bank’s chief economist Goolam Ballim has provided one quite helpful answer to this question: raise public sector investment to levels where South Africa can once again sustain a minimum yearly investment rate of 25% of gross domestic product (GDP), which will, in turn, help raise overall growth levels.
  • New rules
It is interesting to note that Consulting Engineers South Africa (Cesa) has made an application to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for engineering consulting services to be given ‘designated’ status under government’s preferential procurement rules. Under newly introduced regulations, the DTI has the authority to stipulate that government departments, agencies and SoCs procure designated products and services from local manufacturers, or providers.
  • Good news, but . . .
Amid the prevailing economic gloom and doom, it came as welcome relief to learn that South Africa’s foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows rose 269% in 2011 – climbing to $4.5-billion last year from a revised 2010 figure of $1.2-billion. The South African recovery was underpinned by the contested $2.4-billion purchase of a majority interest in JSE-listed Massmart by retail giant Wal-Mart, of the US.
